Resilience First is a not-for-profit business network focused on organisational resilience. Based in London, it brings together companies and practitioners looking to prepare for disruption, manage risk, and maintain operations in the face of shocks such as supply-chain failures, cyber incidents, climate pressures, and wider economic uncertainty.
The organisation presents itself as a member-led platform rather than a consultancy. Its core work centres on knowledge sharing, practical tools, and collaborative programmes designed to help organisations assess vulnerabilities and strengthen their response capacity. A key part of that work is its Model for Organisational Resilience, developed with Cranfield University School of Management. The model offers a measurement-led framework built around five dimensions: social, financial, workforce, infrastructure and environment. It is intended to help organisations anticipate change, absorb impacts, and adapt strategy and business models.
Resilience First’s activities extend beyond research and guidance. It runs annual member programmes, executive development sessions, and networks such as Connected for Resilience: London Business Networks for Resilience. It also provides a Knowledge Hub with more than 200 resources for members, alongside tools to benchmark resilience and track progress. The group has also produced a podcast series, “Leading for Resilience,” and published guides aimed at improving urban resilience for business communities in the UK and beyond.
The organisation’s scope is broad: although rooted in London, it addresses resilience challenges for businesses operating nationally and internationally. Its emphasis is on practical implementation, working across sectors to improve preparedness and response rather than promoting abstract best practice.
