Patoko began in Tirana in October 2022 as a ride-hailing app and has since expanded into a broader platform for everyday services. The company describes its mission as improving access to services in Albania; its team is based in Tirana and includes members from Albania, Canada, the United States and elsewhere.210
Transport remains central to the app. Patoko offers taxi bookings, bus information and deals, with features including upfront pricing, card payments and driver verification. The company says it has more than 400 registered drivers and over 6,000 active monthly users; it also reports partnerships with the Municipality of Tirana, public transport companies, Vodafone and Philip Morris.3610
The platform’s stated ambitions extend beyond travel. Its website lists car rentals, deliveries, cleaning, beauty appointments and other services, while its awards page describes earlier additions such as loyalty and referral programmes, digital wallets and an automated chatbot.31011 The company’s public materials point to Albania as its main market, while noting that users from around the world have travelled with Patoko.23
A notable development is the shift from a single-purpose ride-hailing product toward a multi-service app. Patoko’s own account says it launched in October 2022 and reached 1,200 downloads and 94 booked trips within two months; the company also reports 80,000 downloads to date.10 These figures and descriptions are company-reported.
