London Cycling Campaign (LCC) is a London-based charity and advocacy organisation that campaigns for safer cycling in the UK capital. Its mission is straightforward: to make cycling in London safe everywhere and practical for more people, with the group’s current slogan stressing that cycling should be “safe everywhere” and “fun for everyone.” LCC says it represents London cyclists’ interests in discussions with boroughs, the Greater London Authority, the police and other public bodies.
The organisation was founded in 1978, growing from a small meeting room in Fleet Street into one of the city’s most established cycling voices. It is headquartered in London, England, and works at a local, city-wide level across Greater London. LCC is a registered charity and says it is supported by more than 12,000 members.
Its activity is mainly campaign-led. LCC runs policy and public pressure campaigns on issues such as protected cycle networks, cycle theft, and gender inequality in cycling. One recent flagship initiative is “Streets for Cycling,” a 2026 local election campaign asking candidates and councils to commit to a connected, safe cycle network. The campaign has already secured pledges from multiple councils, according to LCC. Another current campaign focuses on cycle theft, with the organisation calling on the Metropolitan Police and London’s Mayor to act. It also runs “Women’s Freedom,” aimed at closing the gender gap in cycle trips in London.
Beyond campaigning, LCC provides member services including legal advice through its partner Osbornes Law, as well as insurance and discounts with cycle retailers. It also supports community engagement projects such as “Share the Joy,” which distributed funding to local groups in 2026.
