Cityscoot

Filed for bankruptcy Nov 2023; rescued by Cooltra Feb 2024. No longer operates independently. Cityscoot is a French mobility startup founded in Paris that operates one of Europe's largest free-floating electric scooter-sharing services. The company provides a convenient, sustainable alternative to car travel in dense urban areas, allowing users to locate, unlock, and ride electric scooters via a smartphone app, leaving them anywhere within designated service zones. Since its launch, Cityscoot has expanded from Paris to other major European cities, building a fleet of thousands of electric scooters that collectively save tonnes of CO2 emissions compared to equivalent car journeys. The company's technology platform manages fleet logistics, battery charging operations, and predictive demand modelling to ensure scooters are available where and when riders need them. Cityscoot has been a pioneer in the European shared mobility market, helping to demonstrate that electric micro-mobility can be a viable, scalable component of urban transport systems. The company works closely with city authorities to ensure its service integrates with existing public transport networks and contributes to broader urban sustainability goals.
