DoorCE is a Central European project aimed at making public data easier to find, update and use. It responds to a gap between the data held by public and private institutions and the information available to residents, businesses and innovators: open data may be difficult to access, and real-time updates are often missing.12
Led by Warsaw University of Technology, the project brings together 10 partners from seven countries. Its work combines a shared strategy for opening and using public data with software tools and local Public Open Data Hubs, intended to help institutions publish high-quality, dynamic datasets and make them available for digital services.311 The partnership includes municipalities and technology organisations, among them the cities of Warsaw, Sopot and Zadar, as well as Liguria Digitale, aconium and TREXIMA Bratislava.56
The project is developing two strands of pilot work: tourism and climate, and smart cities. Partners are identifying data sources and local requirements for these pilots, while building a Public Open Data Toolbox and a network of hubs to apply the strategy in practice.34 Early reported progress includes delivery of an initial data-opening strategy, a first version of the toolbox and concept reports to guide pilot activities.3
DoorCE began in June 2024 and is scheduled to run through November 2026. Its stated aim is to increase the number of public institutions providing good-quality real-time data and strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises’ ability to use that data in digital services.35
