Based in Warsaw, Fundacja Instytut na rzecz Ekorozwoju (InE) is a Polish non-governmental think tank focused on sustainable development and environmental policy. Its work spans climate protection, renewable energy, energy efficiency, nature conservation and public understanding of environmental issues.21
The institute describes its approach as taking ideas through a four-stage cycle: conception, promotion, piloting and implementation. Its activities include research and analysis, public information and education, and support for strategies and programmes that incorporate sustainable-development principles.18 The projects identified in available sources include ChronmyKlimat.pl, an information portal on climate change, renewable energy and sustainable living, and KLIMAPOLKA, which examined opportunities for Polish climate policy. Other past initiatives addressed energy-efficient homes, local energy strategies, biogas and the Natura 2000 network.7
The organisation’s work is principally focused on Poland, including local and national policy and public engagement; its project record also includes international cooperation and funding.57 Dr Wojciech Szymalski is identified as the foundation’s president in its 2023 report.11 The organisation’s LinkedIn page says the institute was founded in 1990, while the Polish company registry records the foundation’s registration in 2002; these appear to refer to the institute’s origins and the legal entity’s registration, respectively.23
