CargoB is a Boston-based shared electric cargo-bike service founded in 2024 by neighbors Dorothy Fennell and Zack DeClerck. Fennell is the company’s co-founder and CEO, and DeClerck its co-founder and COO; Fennell’s background is in transportation planning, while DeClerck has worked in marketing and communications. 27
The company’s aim is to make everyday trips around dense urban neighborhoods easier without a car. Its fleet consists of pedal-assist, front-loading cargo bikes, which riders can book through a mobile app for round trips. The bikes are designed to carry people or bulky items, with a stated front-bucket payload capacity of up to 300 pounds. 1
CargoB launched in May 2024, initially serving Boston’s Jamaica Plain, Cambridge’s Porter Square and Somerville’s Winter Hill. 27 By September 2025, it had expanded to nine locations, from East Arlington to Boston’s Seaport. 11 Its service remains focused on the Boston area, where the bikes are positioned as an alternative for errands and other local journeys that might otherwise be made by car. 18
A notable development is the company’s planned access to transit locations: in 2025, CargoB announced a partnership with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority to rent cargo bikes from transit stations, connecting the service with public transport. 11 The company describes its 2024 launch as the first on-demand electric cargo-bike share in the United States. 7
