BuildingEnergy Boston 2027 is a two-day conference and trade show organized by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA), for professionals working in energy, building science and sustainability. The event is scheduled for March 10–11, 2027, at the Westin Boston Seaport District in Boston, Massachusetts.13
Its format combines dozens of peer-reviewed sessions with an exhibition of more than 50 exhibitors, alongside opportunities for over 1,000 practitioners to meet and exchange experience. The organizers say sessions will draw on real-world data and case studies, while also addressing emerging technologies and innovative programs.1 The intended audience spans building and energy practitioners, including industry leaders and emerging professionals.3
The 2027 theme is “The Building in Context: Earth, Air, Water, Fire & Light.” It frames buildings in relation to the human and environmental systems around them, rather than treating decarbonization, electrification and technology as ends in themselves.37 NESEA invites practitioners to help shape the program through an open planning meeting, and session proposals are reviewed by a committee of NESEA members.23
The conference belongs to a longer NESEA tradition: the organization’s account traces its annual energy-efficient construction conference to a 1983 gathering in Vermont, which developed into the event now known as BuildingEnergy.10 NESEA itself was founded in 1975, initially as the New England Solar Energy Association, by builders, architects, engineers and homeowners interested in solar buildings.11 The official 2027 event page says further program and registration information will be added closer to the conference.1
