MOBI.E – Entidade Gestora da Rede de Mobilidade Elétrica is the public company responsible for managing Portugal’s national electric mobility network. Based in Lisbon, it operates as the entity that oversees the public charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, coordinating the technical, financial and information flows linked to the network. In practice, MOBI.E sits at the centre of the country’s charging ecosystem: it does not sell cars or build chargers itself, but manages the system that allows different operators and service providers to function within a common framework.
The organisation’s mission is tied to Portugal’s transition to electric mobility. Since 2015, MOBI.E has acted as the Entidade Gestora da Rede de Mobilidade Elétrica, or EGME, a role that involves monitoring charging points and supporting the interoperability of the network. Its public-facing services include information for drivers, support for charging operations and contact channels for urgent assistance, including a 24-hour hotline.
MOBI.E’s work has national reach, covering mainland Portugal and the wider Portuguese charging network. It is closely associated with the rollout of public charging infrastructure across the country, including fast-charging stations, which have helped expand the everyday usability of electric vehicles. Its model is often described as centralised compared with many other European markets, where charging networks are usually more fragmented.
The company is headquartered on Avenida Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco in Lisbon. Available public information identifies it as a state-owned company and places it at the administrative core of Portugal’s electric mobility system.
